Progress Report – April 2020

We hope you are all doing well and staying safe. Like everything in our current lives, B4NTR is bound to be affected by the coronavirus situation as we all face changes in priorities and commitments.

Currently, it is likely that more than ever people are appreciating the need for not just basic internet but world-class gold-standard internet in their lives. Whether it be to enable working from home, maintaining contact with relatives, friends and neighbours by video call, education and entertainment.

At this time, safety needs to be the primary issue and the last thing we would want is for B4NTR volunteers, landowners or residents to be put at risk. It is important that we all abide by the social distancing measures and stay at home. This is likely to have an impact on progress, but the good news is that B4NTR is still moving forward with work that can be done on-line or by phone. We have made good progress with the wayleaves and Government voucher sign-up numbers are going up steadily.

If you have not already done so, we need YOU to sign up for a Government Voucher. This is the next step and is different from the expression of interest (EOI) forms previously.

Please apply by heading to…
then enter your postcode and fill out the form.

Check out how your area is doing by clicking on the graph above
– don’t forget to ask others to sign-up!

B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North) will request the voucher to help fund building the network through a Department for Culture, Media and Sport portal. Once the voucher has been processed, DCMS will then email you to confirm that you’re happy to go ahead by clicking on the link. This email can end up in your spam folder so keep checking for this. Please notes there may currently be some delay in the processing of vouchers.

How the Government Voucher Scheme works…

As part of the scheme, once you have taken up a connection, B4RN will then contribute a fixed grant of £150 for residents to you towards the cost of installation.

With your help, we hope to be in a position to start building the network very soon. Thank you for your support and please help us by spreading the word on-line or by phone and encouraging your neighbours and other local residents to sign up for a Government voucher too.

Many thanks! Your local B4NTR Volunteer Team
